“Stride for Her” is a meaningful initiative organized by the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association to celebrate the strength, resilience, and achievements of women, while honoring the remarkable legacy of Guiding. This special event marks 109 years of Guiding alongside the global celebration of International Women’s Day, bringing together individuals who are committed to empowering women and inspiring future generations.
The event begins with an awareness walk, symbolizing unity and collective progress, as participants stride together in support of women’s empowerment. This journey reflects the spirit of courage, leadership, and determination that has defined the Guiding movement for over a century.
Following the walk, the official ceremony will be held at the Colombo Public Library Auditorium, featuring a series of impactful sessions and recognitions. Highlights include an educational session titled “Future You – Planning to Win Tomorrow”, designed to inspire individuals to take control of their future with confidence and purpose.
The event will also host distinguished guests, including national leaders, who will share their insights and celebrate the contributions of women across all sectors. Special segments will honor the legacy of the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association and recognize the efforts of educators and leaders who continue to shape young minds.
“Stride for Her” is more than an event - it is a movement. It is a call to take a step forward for equality, leadership, and opportunity. Through this initiative, we aim to inspire communities to support and uplift women, ensuring a future where every woman has the opportunity to thrive and lead.

World Thinking Day 2026

The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association proudly celebrated the 100th World Thinking Day on 22nd February 2026. Girl Guides gathered in unity to honour this special day, which is observed annually in remembrance of the founders of the Guiding Movement. The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. George I. H. Cooke, Senior Lecturer at the University of Kelaniya, whose presence added significance to the occasion.
The celebration reflected the true spirit of World Thinking Day — pride in every uniform, inspiring moments on stage, and a powerful sense of belonging to a global sisterhood that connects millions of Guides around the world.
Following the formal ceremony, the Guides participated in a series of interactive activity stalls organised specially for World Thinking Day 2026. Working in groups, they rotated between stalls such as bracelet making, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), STEM activities, GLACC, and other engaging tasks designed to promote creativity, teamwork, leadership, and global awareness.
Upon successfully completing the required activities, the Guides earned the World Thinking Day 2026 patch, marking their active participation in this milestone celebration. The day stood as a meaningful reminder that through friendship, service, and shared values, we are united and stronger together. 💚

The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association presents the Interfaith Program 2026, a national event celebrating unity, mutual respect, and harmony among faiths.
This special program is held in commemoration of 109 years of the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association, bringing Guides together to reflect shared values and strengthen understanding across religious communities.
