Organization Overview
The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association, the largest female youth movement in Sri Lanka, celebrates 107 years of service in 2024. In 1917, Ms. Jennie Calverly Green, a young teacher from England, introduced Girl Guiding to Sri Lanka at Girl’s High School, Kandy.
SLGGA is a member organization of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS).

Over the years, the movement has spread to all the nooks and corners of this beautiful island. SLGGA is proud of its membership spread all over the island in all nine provinces. Throughout the long years volunteers have come forward with their time, effort, and energy to keep the Guiding light bright in the island.

At SLGGA, we work around the clock to provide opportunities for girls and young women to reach their fullest potential. SLGGA looks forward with great enthusiasm to a bright future with many more years of long service to the country and its people.

Our Girl Guide Programme

The SLGGA Guide Program is made up of adventures, leadership opportunities, badge work and service to the community. The members learn new skills and grow in confidence by challenging themselves. The members work towards badges and awards at their own preference. Our trained volunteer Girl Guide Leaders conduct weekly meetings, camps and community service activities ensuring a well-rounded Girl Guiding experience.

With its rich history, traditions, diverse programs, and values-driven approach, it continues to inspire and empower generations of girls across Sri Lanka.
