World Thinking Day 2026
Posted by Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association | Created at February 22, 2026 | Updated at February 23, 2026
The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association proudly celebrated the 100th World Thinking Day on 22nd February 2026. Girl Guides gathered in unity to honour this special day, which is observed annually in remembrance of the founders of the Guiding Movement. The ceremony was graced by the Chief Guest, Dr. George I. H. Cooke, Senior Lecturer at the University of Kelaniya, whose presence added significance to the occasion.
The celebration reflected the true spirit of World Thinking Day — pride in every uniform, inspiring moments on stage, and a powerful sense of belonging to a global sisterhood that connects millions of Guides around the world.
Following the formal ceremony, the Guides participated in a series of interactive activity stalls organised specially for World Thinking Day 2026. Working in groups, they rotated between stalls such as bracelet making, Sustainable Development Goals (SDGs), STEM activities, GLACC, and other engaging tasks designed to promote creativity, teamwork, leadership, and global awareness.
Upon successfully completing the required activities, the Guides earned the World Thinking Day 2026 patch, marking their active participation in this milestone celebration. The day stood as a meaningful reminder that through friendship, service, and shared values, we are united and stronger together. đź’š
