Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association Participates in the 39th WAGGGS World Conference 2026
The Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association (SLGGA) proudly participated in the 39th World Conference of the World Association of Girl Guides and Girl Scouts (WAGGGS), held in Phnom Penh, Cambodia, from 14th to 19th June 2026.
The World Conference is the highest decision-making body of WAGGGS and brings together Member Organisations from around the world to discuss key issues, shape the future direction of the Movement, and strengthen global sisterhood and collaboration.
The Sri Lankan delegation was led by Dr. Kusantha Herath, Chief Commissioner, who served as the Head Delegate. The delegation also included Ms. Rukshany Azeez, International Commissioner, as Delegate; Ms. Naduni Wickramatunga, Assistant Chief Commissioner; Ms. Rihana Anwar, Commissioner - Butterflies; Ms. Gangani Gunawardena, Commissioner - Communications & Publications, as Observer; and Devindi Manage and Poorni Rasanjali, who participated as Youth Participants.
Throughout the conference, the delegation actively engaged in discussions, networking opportunities, governance sessions, and strategic decision-making processes that will help shape the future of Guiding worldwide. The participation of the youth representatives further highlighted SLGGA's commitment to empowering young women and ensuring that youth voices are represented in global platforms.
SLGGA is honoured to have represented Sri Lanka at this prestigious international event and remains committed to strengthening the Guiding Movement through global partnerships, leadership development, and opportunities for girls and young women to become active citizens of the world.
The Association extends its appreciation to WAGGGS and the host Member Organisation for successfully organizing the 39th World Conference and providing an inspiring platform for learning, collaboration, and friendship among Girl Guides and Girl Scouts worldwide.
The delegation carried the Sri Lankan flag with pride, showcasing the spirit of sisterhood, leadership, and service that defines the Sri Lanka Girl Guides Association.
